One of the many questions buyers have when purchasing a home is what will remain on the property when the sale is complete. Below is a general list of items that are categorized into staying with the home or leaving with the homeowner. Keep in mind that this is a general list and many of the below items may be negotiable. Check with your realtor concerning items you have questions about.
Items that will stay with the home:
- Wired alarm systems
- Smoke detectors & interior sprinkler systems
- Grounded landscaping & trees
- TV antennas and satellite dishes
- Built-in items such as bookcases, shelves, and benches
- Light fixtures and chandeliers
- Blinds and curtain rods
- Upgraded knobs unless you install replacements before move-out
- Ceiling fans and window units
- Items/decor that may disfigure wall, porch, fence, ceiling, etc. upon removal
- Mounted TV brackets, installed surround sound systems
- Attached items
Items that the homeowner may take with them:
- Non built in appliances (a refrigerator is considered a non built in appliance)
- Swings and play sets
- Patio/porch table, chairs, etc.
- Furniture
- Decor items such as rugs, curtains and rods, etc.
- Specialty light fixtures (if attached in home, make sure this is negotiated on the purchase agreement)
- Unattached items
