The beginning of the year marks a favorite season for many Louisianians -- king cake season. We set our healthy New Year's Resolutions only for them to break down weeks later with the sweet goodness that is king cake. With such a wide range of king cake flavors, from boudin flavored to berry or even alcohol filled, it is difficult to even find where to begin in searching for the best king cake in the Greater Baton Rouge Area. One thing we do guarantee, however, is that your mouth will be watering by the time you reach the end of this post.

We surveyed some of our Realtors and staff to highlight some of our local king cake favorites in Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, Geismar, Gonzales, Plaquemine, Prairieville, and St. Amant.

Tureau's Berry Deluxe Chantilly king cake. "Tureau's has so many different types. Most are only made to order so they are always fresh. Call two days in advance because their cake has to cool 24 hours before they will fill or ice it. My favorite is the Berry which is basically a Chantilly. It’s stuffed with Chantilly style cream cheese and loaded with fresh berries, whipped cream and powdered sugar. It is divine. My husband loves the Mississippi Mud king cake."

Tureau's Grocery Store is located at 44463 LA-431, St. Amant, LA. Call them at (225) 622-4094.

The Wedding king cake from Harvest Supermarket in Geismar is my favorite. I also enjoy the Dong Phuong king cake in either traditional or cream cheese that you can buy through Bao Asian Market & Deli.

Harvest Supermarket is located in Geismar at 12513 LA-73. Bao Asian Market is located at 17316 Airline Hwy, Prairieville.

Thee Heavenly Donut. "I can’t eat them anymore, but when I could it was Thee Heavenly Donut. Much like a donut, they fry their king cakes. They even have a boudin king cake."

"My favorite is always Calandro's. I like that they have so many different flavors always available. I am basic so I always get cream cheese, but they have something for everyone including one with alcohol."
