St. George is a newly formed city in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana. On October 12, 2019, residents of this previously unincorporated area approved through vote the formation of the city of St. George. The development process of the proposed city was paused as the Mayor-President of East Baton Rouge Parish filed a lawsuit against St. George organizers shortly after the city's formation passed through vote. On April 26, 2024, the Louisiana Supreme Court voted in favor of St. George organizers, officially creating the city of St. George.
With its incorporation in 2024, St. George was estimated to have a population of 86,000+, making it the 5th largest city in the state of Louisiana and the 2nd largest city in East Baton Rouge Parish.

St. George is an area previously unincorporated along the southern border of the city of Baton Rouge. The city of St. George extends East to the Amite River, South to the borders of Ascension and Iberville Parishes, and West to the Mississippi River. The city's website shows the full map of St. George. Though the area is part of East Baton Rouge Parish, it was never part of the city of Baton Rouge.
Which school district will St. George belong to?
St. George residents will remain in the East Baton Rouge Parish School District upon the city's incorporation. However, the movement to form the city of St. George began as a result of an unsuccessful attempt to create their own school district, similar to the cities of Baker, Central, and Zachary in East Baton Rouge Parish. St. George organizers will again attempt to create their own school district now that they have formed their own city.
